Huaka‘i: Voyage Through Polynesia
Lū‘au Dinner Show Fundraiser
Join us on a Huaka’i (voyage) through Polynesia! The cultural practitioners of our nonprofit group, Hālau Kalikopuakalehua, will take you on a journey to the islands of Polynesia through song and dance. Come support as they fundraise to compete against other groups from Hawai’i and around the world in the Iā ‘Oe E Ka Lā hula competition. Any remaining funds, if any, will go toward materials and costuming for members of Hālau Ho’okahi I Ka Hula, keeping in line with our nonprofit’s mission to perpetuate the culture. Being that the competition is for hula, their focus in the dinner show will be the islands of Hawai’i. However, their voyage will take you to the other Polynesian islands of Tahiti, Tonga, Sāmoa and Aotearoa New Zealand. We will have amazing silent auction and raffle items, authentic Hawaiian cuisine (including traditional kālua pig), soothing entertainment by the musicians of Nā Leo Kūpono, the budding dancers of Hālau Ho’okahi I Ka Hula and more.
